4.2.25. MTO (SuCri2GetReport)

Overview

With the MTO command from the SuCri plugin, you export the bill of materials (material take-off) of the supports for the current drawing or for selected drawings of the project in Excel format. This enables fast data evaluation directly from the model.

Where can I find the function?

"SuCri" tab > "Module 2" panel > manufacturer button of your licensed catalog > Dashboard > Quick Access (or Reports) > MTO.

Alternatively, in the SuCri tool palette under MTO & Reports > MTO. You open the palette in the dashboard via the pushpin icon in the title bar ("Pin to tool palette"). The command can also be entered directly on the command line.

How it works in detail

1. Open the project and drawing
   In Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D, open your project via the Project Manager.
   Result: The drawing is loaded in the workspace and ready for evaluation.
2. Run the "MTO" command
   Start MTO via the dashboard (Quick Access or Reports), the tool palette, or enter SuCri2GetReport directly on the command line.
   Result: The Select Drawings dialog opens.
3. Select drawings
   Under Drawing Source, select Current Drawing or Project. For Project, mark the desired drawings. Confirm with OK.
   Result: SuCri reads the supports of the selected drawings.
4. Choose the storage location
   In the Save Excel Report dialog, SuCri suggests the file name "MTO Project <project name> <time date>.xlsx". Choose a directory, adjust the name if necessary and click Save.
5. Review the report
   After saving, the file opens automatically in Microsoft Excel.
   Result: The report lists the components of the selected drawings in detail in columns.
6. (Optional) Manual adjustment
   You can now edit the report further in Excel, for example set filters or add components manually.
   Result: A final report adapted to your requirements.

Catalog-specific export: In the dashboard opened via the "MPSS" manufacturer button, the MTO button instead starts the catalog-specific bill of materials export (SuCri2MPSSMTOExport).

Settings

"SuCri" tab > "Settings" panel > Settings (command SuCriSettings), "Module 2" area:

• General tab, MTO export group: MTO language (selection, default value: Default, otherwise e.g. ENG or DEU), Article description column (default value: PartSizeLongDesc), Clamp in separate MTO row (On/Off, default value: enabled), Assembly groups in MTO (default value: Completed item) and Inlay band length (m) (default value: 0).
• MTO filter tab: Defines per project which components and structural elements are listed. An empty value means "no filter"; a leading "!" excludes values (e.g. !Existing).
• Export templates tab: With MTO template > Open you change the layout of the report in Excel.

Application examples

Example 1: Bill of materials for the whole project

You select the drawing source Project, mark all drawings and receive a combined bill of materials in one Excel file.

Example 2: Hide existing parts

Enter an exclusion such as !Existing in the MTO filter. On the next export, these components no longer appear in the bill of materials.

Tips and best practices

• Preparation: Run Dynamic properties before the export so that all supports carry complete properties.
• File format: The export is exclusively in .xlsx format (Excel workbook).
• Write permissions: If the export fails, please check whether the target folder is write-protected.
• Performance: The time needed depends on the number of selected drawings and objects.

Troubleshooting

• Command not found: Check whether the SuCri plugin is loaded correctly in the AutoCAD environment.
• Access denied: Choose a different storage location (e.g. the desktop) to rule out permission conflicts.
• Excel does not open: Check the file association in Windows or locate the .xlsx file manually in the selected directory.
• "Current drawing doesn't have support please check again": The selected drawings contain no SuCri supports, or the report could not be saved.
• "... is not a valid parameter, filter fail": The MTO filter contains an unknown property. Correct the entry on the MTO filter tab.
• Report is empty or incomplete: Check the MTO filter and whether the supports carry dynamic properties.
