4.2.25. MTO (SuCri2GetReport)

    Overview

    This guide explains how to use the MTO command from the SuCri plugin to export custom reports for the active drawing (DWG) in Excel format. This enables a quick data evaluation directly from the current working file.

    How it works in detail

    1. Start the software
      Open Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel on your computer.
      Result: The user interface of the software is loaded.
    2. Open the DWG drawing
      Navigate to your file via File > Open or the Project Manager. Make sure that the DWG file is displayed active in the main window.
      Result: The drawing is loaded in the workspace and ready for evaluation.
    3. Run the "MTO DWG" command
      In the ribbon menu, look under the SuCri tab for the MTO DWG command or enter SuCri2GetReportActiveDrawing directly in the command line.
      Result: A dialog box for selecting the storage location opens.
    4. Choose the storage location
      In the Save as window, select a directory. Under File name, enter a suitable name (e.g. Report_Active_DWG_Date). Click Save.
      Result: The generation process starts; a progress bar may be displayed.
    5. Check the report
      Wait until the generation is complete. The file then opens automatically in Microsoft Excel.
      Result: The report lists all components of the active DWG (e.g. HEA profiles) in detail in columns.
    6. (Optional) Manual adjustment
      You can now further edit the report in Excel, for example set filters or manually add specific components such as insert straps.
      Result: A final report adapted to your requirements.

    Tips and best practices

    • Specific focus: Use MTO DWG for a single drawing. For the entire project, use the MTO PRJ command instead.
    • File format: By default, the export is exclusively in the .xlsx format (Excel workbook).
    • Write permissions: If the export fails, please check whether the target folder is write-protected.
    • Performance: The duration of the creation depends on the complexity and number of objects in the active drawing.

    Troubleshooting

    • Command not found: Check whether the SuCri Plugin is loaded correctly in the AutoCAD environment.
    • Access denied: Choose a different storage location (e.g. Desktop) to rule out permission conflicts.
    • Excel does not open: Check the file association in Windows or locate the .xlsx file manually in the selected directory.
    • Report is empty: Make sure that the drawing actually contains AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel objects and not just simple CAD lines.
    • Crash during generation: Save the DWG beforehand and close applications you do not need in order to free up memory.
