4.1.8. Manufacturer-specific steel construction catalogs

When the software is installed, manufacturer-specific steel construction catalogs are automatically included to enable precise design. For correct quantity calculation and material planning, these catalogs also contain the corresponding linear weights, which is essential for the later project evaluation.

Prerequisites

• The software must be fully installed to access the included databases.
• You must have an active project open in AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Step-by-step instructions

1. In the ribbon, navigate to the Structure tab, click the Settings group and select the Member Settings menu item there.
2. In the dialog, under the Shape standard field, select the desired manufacturer from the list.
3. Now select the desired version in the Shape type and Shape size areas and confirm your selection with OK.
   Result: The selected manufacturer specifications are now actively stored in the system for inserting profiles.
4. In the ribbon, click the command Structure -> Member to place the selected profile in the 3D model space.

Important notes

• Quantity calculation: The linear weights stored in the catalogs are automatically used for evaluations and bills of materials.
• Consistency: Make sure to use manufacturer-specific catalogs consistently throughout the project to avoid errors in material procurement.
• Best practice: Before inserting complex constructions, check whether the correct manufacturer standard is set as active.
