During the installation of the software, manufacturer-specific steel construction catalogs are automatically included to enable precise planning. For a correct quantity determination and material planning, these catalogs additionally contain the corresponding linear weights, which is essential for the later project evaluation.

    Prerequisites

    • The software must be fully installed in order to access the included databases.
    • You must have an active project open in AutoCAD Plant 3D.

    Step-by-step instructions

    1. In the ribbon, navigate to the Steel construction tab, click on the Settings group and select the menu item Profile settings there.
    2. In the dialog window, under the field Profile standard, select the desired manufacturer from the list.
    3. Now select the desired version in the areas Profile type and Profile size and confirm your selection with OK.
Result: The selected manufacturer specifications are now actively stored in the system for inserting profiles.
    4. In the ribbon, click the command Steel construction -> Profile to place the selected profile in the 3D model area.

    Important notes

    • Quantity determination: The linear weights stored in the catalogs are automatically used for evaluations and bills of materials.
    • Consistency: Make sure to use manufacturer-specific catalogs uniformly across the project in order to avoid errors in material procurement.
    • Best practice: Before inserting complex constructions, check whether the correct manufacturer standard is actively set.
