4.5.26. Add additional material

Updated on 20/10/2026

On this page

    Overview

With additional material you include items in the bill of materials of the ortho drawing that do not exist as separate objects in the model. Example: An anchor bolt is modeled with nut and washer as one object and therefore appears in only one BOM row. However, the nut and washer are to be listed as separate rows.

There is no separate command for this. You store the items once in the Module 4 settings and mark the components in the catalog with an Anchor type. When deriving, SuCri automatically supplements the bill of materials.

Where can I find the function?

In the SuCri settings (command SuCriSettings), Module 4 page, BOM data button. There you maintain the Additional BOM items table.

    How it works in detail

    Step 1: Create items

Open the BOM data and, under Additional BOM items, use Add to create one row per additional part:

    • Anchor type: freely chosen key used to assign the row to the component, for example 901.
    • Detail: for information only.
    • Qty: quantity per component.
    • Description: the text that appears in the bill of materials.
    • Short description, Item code, Length, Weight, Material: optional information for the bill of materials.

Several rows with the same anchor type result in several additional items for one component, such as nut and washer. Save the settings.

    Step 2: Mark the component

In the Catalog Editor, the component receives the Anchor type property with the same value. The component must also be in the pipe spec with this property, because SuCri reads the value from the pipe spec. You do not need to create the property in the Properties palette or the Data Manager, but you can do so via the project configuration if you want to see the value there.

    Step 3: Derive

Form the assembly with Attach and derive the drawing. For each component with a matching anchor type, SuCri inserts additional rows at the end of the bill of materials:

    • The position number is that of the component with an appended letter A, B, C …
    • The quantity is the number of components multiplied by the quantity from the table.
    • Length and weight are multiplied by the number of components.

    Application examples

Example 1: Anchor with nut and washer

Two anchors of one type are in the assembly. With two rows for the anchor type (nut, washer), the rows with the suffixes A and B for the anchor position appear at the end of the bill of materials, each with two pieces and the weight entered.

Example 2: Clamping plate with bolt set

A clamping plate receives a bolt, a nut and two washers as additional items. The bill of materials lists them with standard and material, without the parts having to be modeled.

    Tips and best practices

    • Unique anchor types: Use a separate anchor type for each component variant, otherwise different components share the same additional items.
    • Do not forget the pipe spec: If the anchor type is only in the catalog but not in the pipe spec, SuCri finds no assignment.
    • Excel still usable: The settings can be exported and imported as Excel on the settings page.
    • Counterpart: Under Excluded BOM items you define which components are omitted from the bill of materials and the annotation.

    Troubleshooting

    • No additional rows in the bill of materials: Check whether the anchor type is identical in the table, catalog and pipe spec and whether the settings have been saved.
    • "Please fix the highlighted values before saving": A row of the table contains an invalid value, such as a quantity that is not a whole number.
