Learn how to minimize data loss for dynamic component properties in Plant 3D. This documentation provides important tips for avoiding configuration problems caused by a SpecUpdate.

Prerequisites

• Use of dynamic component properties (e.g., generated by SuCri).

Step-by-Step Instructions

To prevent or reverse the loss of data, please follow these instructions:

1. Check before SpecUpdate: Before performing a SpecUpdate, check whether individual dynamic properties are being used in the current project that are not defined in the spec.
   Result: You avoid unintentional overwriting of data.
2. Store properties in the spec: Transfer recurring dynamic properties into the corresponding spec. To do this, open the Spec Editor and add the fields.
   Result: The values remain consistent even after an update.
3. Re-update via SuCri: If an update has already been performed and properties have been lost, run the SuCri Tools again to restore the values automatically.
   Result: The dynamic fields are recalculated based on the current project rules.

Important Notes

• Awareness: Inform your project team that a SpecUpdate compares the components with the standard definitions of the spec and overwrites manual changes.
• Process Control: Establish clear project standards regarding who is allowed to perform a SpecUpdate and at what time.
• Data Integrity: Dynamically generated values are always lost when Plant 3D detects a discrepancy between the component in the model and the source spec.

Troubleshooting

Problem: After an update, components suddenly show default values instead of the customized properties.
