8.5.7. Components appear unconnected (ProfileWeldedTogether)

In Advance Steel, it can happen that the parts of a connection created with SuCri do not appear as a unit that belongs together, even though they are aligned correctly. Whether SuCri welds the parts is controlled by the Module 3 welding options. This guide explains where to find the options. The welding options exist only in Advance Steel; in Plant 3D they are ignored.
Prerequisites
- The project is open in Advance Steel and SuCri Module 3 is loaded.
- The profiles are geometrically aligned with each other correctly.
Settings
Setting | Where set | Type / default | Effect |
Auto create weld | "Settings" window (command | On/Off, default: On | After a connection has been created, adds a shop weld that joins all of its parts into one assembly. If off, no weld is created. |
Set profiles welded together | "Settings" window, "Module 3" tab, as well as the Profiles welded checkbox in the connection dialog | On/Off, default: On | Additionally welds the connection parts to the main profile. Only takes effect if "Auto create weld" is active. |
Step-by-step guide

Check the settings
Open the "Settings" window (ribbon SuCri > Settings or command
SuCriSettings), Module 3 tab. Make sure that Auto create weld is enabled. -
Check the option in the connection dialog
Open the connection dialog (
SuCri3ShowSelectConnection) and enable the Profiles welded checkbox if the connection parts are also to be welded to the main profile.Expected result: New connections are created as a welded unit.

Update existing connections
The settings take effect when SuCri generates the parts of a connection. Update existing connections so that SuCri rebuilds them with the current settings, e.g. with
SuCri3BatchUpdateConnectionsfor all connections in the active drawing.Expected result: The components are displayed as welded to each other.
Important notes
- Default setting: Both options are enabled by default. If they have been switched off, SuCri creates new connections without a weld.
- Project standards: Specify in your project standards whether welding is used, so that all users work consistently.
Troubleshooting
- Components remain separate: Check whether there is a gap between the profiles, whether the connection was updated after the settings were changed, and whether you are working in Advance Steel (there is no welding in Plant 3D).
- Checkbox missing in the connection dialog: You are working in Plant 3D. The option is hidden there.
